At W I L D E R Landscapes we design and install gardens with a mission to help you rediscover your connection with nature. To achieve this we have three key values that underpin all that we do.

For many of us, our lives are so busy that we seldom have the opportunity to interact with the natural environment. Recent studies have shown that spending time in nature reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical well-being, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. When designed correctly your garden can become an extension of your home, creating a haven that enables this unique interaction with nature improving your all-round wellbeing.

Since the industrial revolution almost half of Britain's wildlife has been lost, with farming and urban spread being the main causes. We believe that our gardens can play a critical role in reversing this loss given that private gardens comprise approximately 24% of London, but just 14% of this is green space. We understand the important ecological function that gardens hold and through careful design and plant selection create spaces that embrace wildlife. Creating spaces for biodiversity to thrive isn't just good for our wildlife, it also improves your sense of connection with nature and associated wellbeing benefits.

We appreciate the challenges that we collectively face from global warming and diminishing resources. Reducing our impact requires careful consideration which begins at the design phase. We select and use materials that are either recycled or have a low carbon intensity e.g. using reclaimed sleepers for planters or low carbon concrete. We also select native plant species that are accustomed to the given environment requiring low maintenance and watering. This has the added benefit of reintroducing local wildlife, enhancing the feeling of connection to the natural world.

Ethan is an environmental engineer who has spent the last 7 years working for Arup across multiple disciplines and locations. Most recently Ethan was working as a sustainability consultant in Sydney, Australia on large scale infrastructure projects. During this time Ethan developed a new found appreciation for the natural environment and is passionate about creating spaces to help people find theirs.

Wilder undertook the landscaping of our garden: including excavation, fencing, tiling and construction of a bespoke circular seat. Ethan was on site most days and always available for advice or discussions as the garden progressed. They were flexible, understanding and paid attention to the details of the garden. We are extremely pleased with the final result and cannot thank them enough for the care and hard work to turn our dream garden into a reality. A highly recommended team!
