Woodland edge in Stoke Newington

A garden created after an extension and new garden office. A light touch was requested by the client, which was done by reusing yorkstone sets from the original garden in a free form way and then cutting low-species wildflower turf around the pavers. 
Focal point is the beautiful structure of the cherry tree in which the pathway has been placed around the twisted trunk sympathetically. Woodland style planting around the tree such as wild strawberries, grasses, ferns.
The planting has been created for all year round interest from the Hellebores in the winter to the spring bulbs which include drifts of Narcissus and Alliums. Reaching peak green in summer and then the warm colours of coming through of the Amemanthele, Persicaria and Hydrangeas going into the Autumn.


Mediterranean Garden

A contemporary redesign of a small garden in London Fields with a Mediterranean feel.

Al fresco dining and entertaining was especially important for the client, so we designed and installed a bespoke L shaped bench made from reclaimed hardwood and tiles from Bert & May x Darkroom.

The terracotta floor tiles also from Bert & May give the patio a warm Med feel contrasted with the dark navy slat panel fencing. 

Planting beyond the bench features Calamagrostis grasses with Rhus typhina 'Dissecta' for an impactful autumn display, as well as species rich lawn turf to maximise benefit to wildlife. 

Terracotta and Dark Room tiles made by Bert & May frame a bespoke L shaped bench we designed and built for hosting and entertaining parties in the summer. 

Woodland Garden, Green Lanes

The client for this project in North London wanted a calming, naturalistic space with seasonal interest on display from the kitchen.

We planted a woodland scheme, with multi stem Amelanchier and Birch trees, underplanted with Miscanthus and Luzula grasses, to ensure autumn colour and year round interest.

The garden also features hardwood decking, painted slat panel fencing and a utility space in Cotswold Buff Gravel.

The Wild Orchard

An informal, contemporary redesign of this large residential garden in Clapton that benefits from existing plum, pear and cherry trees. 

Natural materials such as brick, timber and gravel are used throughout to create an enclosed seating area by the house for morning cups of coffee and a raised dining space at the rear of the garden for entertaining guests. 

Elements from recent interior renovations such as lime-washed walls and basket weave patters are brought into the garden to tie back to the house.

Stoke Newington

Working with Wild Yards, this project in East London involved installing a new garden to connect the extension of a Victorian house to a newly installed Garden Office. 

The design had a strong focus on sustainability with reclaimed yorkstone setts laid into species-rich lawn turf and a green roof on the garden office to slow water run off, which is then captured in a galvanised-steel water-butt to reduce mains water usage. 

The woodland planting scheme features Anemanthele lessoniana grasses, spring bulbs including Narcissus Thalia and climbing Trachelospermum jasminoides among others.
