Bespoke bench

The Mediterranean Garden, London Fields

Al fresco dining and entertaining were especially important for our client, with a small garden, in London Fields. So we created a warm and refined space, perfect for hosting summer dinner parties and get-togethers.

We designed and installed a bespoke L-shape bench: a striking centre-piece made from reclaimed hardwood, and stunning Bert & May x Darkroom tiles. Around the bench, we laid terracotta ground tiles, made from recycled quarry bi-product in Italy. They bring warm Mediterranean tones to the garden, and work in pleasing contrast to the dark navy slat-panel fencing.

In terms of planting, we combined Calamagrostis grasses with Rhus typhina ‘Dissecta’ for an impactful autumn display. And we also chose a species-rich lawn turf to maximise the garden’s bio-diverse credentials.

What the client says

Theo and Ethan are a one-of-kind team – super talented. They made what was an overgrown mess of a garden into my happy sanctuary that I’m so proud of. Throughout the process I was so impressed at how much they listened to my thoughts and focused on how I wanted to use the garden into the design and came up with original ideas which would also make the garden fit our lifestyle and taste. I loved all their ideas around using sustainable materials and independent suppliers, I haven’t come across this with any other designers. They were also very clever at working around my budget. A truly bespoke and thoughtful process. I completely trusted them to do a great job, they always went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the result and communication on the project was great at all times. It was really fun to work with them. They’re definitely going places!
